What is Oak and Elm?
Oak and Elm is centred around wellbeing, through the arts, stories and nature. By engaging young minds in activities they find relevant and interesting, we can build a better tomorrow
How do you do it?
Our lessons and activities last for a half day or a whole day in nurseries and primary schools.
In discussion with you, we can build your specific package based on:
Not just for kids!
The focus of Oak and Elm is primary education, but we love working with other groups too! We offer workshops and activities for everyone in the community
What does a session look like?
Why do we have to read?
A set of sessions for children, parents and teachers about the importance of reading in our lives, with follow-up classroom activities.
Part of our work as the FreeBee Library, and in collaboration with BabyStop Shrews
Wolves, Clever Girls and Very Old Tails
Using a range of handmade toys, a strong background in the history of fairy tales and folk stories, we can venture into the woods to find out about Red Riding Hood and many other Traditional Tales.
Activities range from EYFS to KS2, and include local folk stories and investigative work
What shall we make today?
At Oak and Elm, we very much believe in the process over the end product and that everyone is an artist. Whether it's inside or outside, or permanent or ephemeral, anyone can experiment with materials and techniques and produce art in one of our mindful, creative sessions.
What else is available?
Here's a list of what we can offer. It is by no means exhaustive, so if you don't see what you want, please ask!
Make Music with Cedric the Lovebird (singing and rhythm instruments)

Wellbeing in Schools
At Oak and Elm, we firmly believe in wellbeing in schools for all. This is why we can offer weekly sessions - with individual children, small groups or PPA cover for teachers. With safeguarding, mental health awareness, counselling and mental health advocacy training, we can help.
